The second hole immediately reverses direction from the opener, presenting a classic risk-reward decision right from the elevated tee box. Standing at the top of the hill, the player must decide whether to lay up short of the Wissahickon Creek or challenge the hazard for a shorter approach. The creek runs across the fairway at the bottom of the slope, defining the landing area. Most players will opt for an iron or utility club off the tee to ensure safety, leaving an uphill wedge or short iron into the elevated green. This putting surface is cleverly guarded by two deep bunkers on either side of the front. The visual intimidation is amplified by the nearby clubhouse and a back bunker that is actually part of a different hole, creating a fascinating illusion. Precision is key to avoid a difficult up-and-down.
