When looking for a new air compressor there are a lot of terms that can make the decision a bit complicated. One of the first issues most see is an oil-free or oil bath air compressor. The small air compressors that have low performance (cubic feet per minute) are normally oil-free. The better performing air compressors above the oil free are oil bath single stage units. Above the single stage units are the two stage units that compress air multiple times before it reaches the tank. We will discuss this further below.

The Dewalt DXCMV5048055 features a cast iron 2 stage compressor pump with hardened steel disc valves, oversized taper roller bearings, fully balanced cast iron flywheel with splash type lubrication and 220v electric motor with thermal overload protection system.
