25 years of Hallenbau | ZKM | Karlsruhe

Hallenbau A has been one of the central art locations in Karlsruhe since the 1990s. But it wasn't always this way: It was built in 1918 as an arms and munitions factory and has a long way to go before art and culture finally find a place there.

With a length of 312 meters, 10 inner courtyards and 16,500 square meters of floor space, the listed industrial architecture now houses the Städtische Galerie, the University of Design and the Center for Art and Media.
