In New Delhi, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar held a press conference where he shut down speculation about internal leadership changes, reiterated his contentment as deputy CM, and said any shifts would be decided by Congress party leadership, emphasising his administrative focus during the visit.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Irrigation Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced that the state will host a two-day International Conference on Dam Safety in Bengaluru, jointly organized with the Government of India and the Central Water Commission. The conference will focus on dam rehabilitation, safety regulations, modernization, and best practices.

India has 6,628 dams, of which 231 are in Karnataka, and nearly 70% are over 25 years old. Karnataka has allocated ₹1,500 crore for safety improvements in 58 dams under the DRIP scheme. Around 400 delegates from 10 countries, including international experts, engineers, policymakers, and researchers, are expected to participate. The event will include technical sessions, research presentations, exhibitions, and field visits.
