Easy to convert to CB band has two power levels high dead keys about 6.5 watts and swings to about 18w peak I made a mic cord so I could use my echo mic and this thing has loud clear audio!
What a sweet radio. The entire top and sides are heatsink. This radio is built for rough use. It's built like a commercial police or FD Motorola. Nice power, great features and all in a package the size of a smart phone but thicker. It rides in my D6 dozer
Big dislike,, empty package,, trying to get resolved. ,,,,,,,Update,,, Radio is great , amazon took var of the problem thanks
I bought the radio to use on occasional road trips. I wanted to get something small and easy to use that would allow me to monitor channel 19 on the highway & have as a back up to the Anytone 2m/70cm ham rig that hides out in my wifes car.
And I wanted to see what it would do, hooked up to the test equipment & a decent fixed station antenna. Just another 10m AM/FM rig for the car. Didnt do too badly at all.
But lets be real: This is a CB radio. Sure, it is advertised and works as a 10m AM/FM simplex transceiver. But its obvious from the InterNet chatter about this radio that its also a CB radio and a "freebander" HF radio.
Remove one blob of solder inside the radio & it becomes a CB radio with a 5W output limit on AM and FM. Add a blob of solder to another pair of pins & it becomes a Ham/HF radio with 5W output on AM and about 10W on FM.
All simplex. Anyone who has played with the various Stryker/Anytone 10m "ham" transceiver sets knows this. (The only exception is the Stryker SR-94hpc, which has more power and will do 10m FM repeater offsets.)
So whats the verdict? Well, this is a pretty decent 10m AM/FM simplex transceiver. And a nice CB/"freebander" AM/FM transceiver. It comes set up for the amateur 12m (~24.890-24.990 MHz) and 10m (28.000-29.700 MHz) bands.
Modifying the radio to "freeband" (HF in the manual) gives you the 24.165-25.155 MHz coverage and all of the spectrum between 25.615 MHz and 30.105 MHz.
