The Métis Fallen 360° Commemoration Project is a long-term effort to honour Métis soldiers who lost their lives in service during the world wars and are buried in Commonwealth War Graves around the world. Our goal is to create a permanent, immersive digital archive that allows families, communities, and future generations to visit these sacred resting places no matter where they live. Each grave is documented with a 1-minute 360° video and accompanying panoramic images, capturing the atmosphere, landscape, and dignity of the cemetery in a way that traditional photography cannot. This project is being built slowly and carefully, using a combination of fieldwork, community support, and emerging 360-degree technology. Every video follows a consistent format to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and respect for the fallen. As the archive grows—from Italy to France, the Netherlands, and beyond—we hope this work helps reconnect families with their history, deepen public understanding of the Métis contribution to global conflict, and preserve the memory of the Métis fallen for the next hundred years.
