The first rock'n'roll record is often cited as Rocket 88 by Jackie Brenston and His Delta Cats, that was in 1951.
Rock'n'Roll pioneers, Bill Haley and His Comets had their first Billboard Top-40 hit with a cover of Big Joe Turner's Shake Rattle and Roll in 1954.
In March 1955 rock'n'roll exploded onto an unsuspecting world when the movie Blackboard Jungle was released with Bill Haley and His Comets' Rock Around the Clock playing behind the opening credits.
The impact was immediate, Rock Around the Clock was a global hit and rock'n'roll had arrived.
