History
Yugoslavia is a country that was once in southeast Europe. The country is one of the independent countries after the breakup of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes was united in 1918 with the King of Serbia, Peter I as King. In 1929 King Alexander I changed the name of his Kingdom to Yugoslavia.
But in 1941-1945, Yugoslavia was occupied by Germany. So the Kingdom of Yugoslavia made a government in Exile (1941-1945). Meanwhile, the guerrillas/fighters who opposed the German occupation formed Anti-Fascist Council for the National Liberation of Yugoslavia (AVNOJ) (1942-1945)
and a government called Democratic Federal Yugoslavia (DFY) in 1943. The DFY was recognised by the King Peter II in 1944. Until finally Ivan Subasic, the last Prime Minister of Kingdom of Yugoslavia, gave his power to one of the DFY leaders, namely Josip Broz Tito in 1945. This made Tito take took power and dissolved the Yugoslav monarchy in 1945. Yugoslavia eventually became a Communist State. Yugoslavia got its glory during the reign of President Josip Broz Tito until finally Tito died in 1980 causing Yugoslavia to begin to decline. In the end in 1992 due to ethnic wars and divisions. Some parts of Yugoslavia broke away from Yugoslavia. Until only Serbia and Montenegro remained, they continued Yugoslavia and dissolved the Communist government. Until finally in 2003 Yugoslavia was completely dissolved and changed its name to the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro. Until 2006 Serbia and Montenegro split into 2 new countries.
