This archival presentation documents a 1/35 scale model of the Bell AH-1Z Viper, the U.S. Marine Corps’ latest-generation attack helicopter. The depicted configuration reflects the aircraft’s embarked status aboard USS Boxer (LHD-4) during the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Western Pacific Deployment 16-1 in 2016.

Introduced into Marine Corps service in 2010, the AH-1Z features a four-blade composite rotor system, upgraded avionics and sensors, and a versatile armament suite including AGM-114 Hellfires, 70 mm Hydra rockets, AIM-9 missiles, and a nose-mounted 20 mm cannon. During the 2016 deployment, Vipers from the 13th MEU operated from Boxer’s flight deck while the Amphibious Ready Group supported missions across U.S. 7th and 5th Fleet regions. The ARG/MEU team contributed to maritime security operations, theater deterrence, coalition coordination, and support to Operation Inherent Resolve.
