There was a dramatic fire at sea Thursday afternoon, after a local boat caught fire.

Nobody was injured in the incident, but an eye witness told GBC it was a close call.

MH Bland Marine Services helped the Port Authority to tackle the fire. The Captain of the vessel Swordfish was returning after delivering supplies to another ship.

A spokesperson for MH Bland told GBC the vessel was close to a bunker barge, so they contacted the Port Authority and asked if they could assist. The Authority gave them the go ahead and they helped put out the blaze.

The Port Authority also deployed a tug to tackle the fire while the RGP marine section cordoned off the area to ensure that no one approached the burning boat which eventually sank.
