Lake Effect Snow Event-Thruway Shutdowns-Whiteout Conditions-5" Per hour snowfall rates

On January 20-21st a Major lake effect snow event occurred in areas south of Buffalo, across the southtowns and Ski Country. Snow totals approached 30". On the night of January 20th the strongest band of the year developed with snowfall rates over 5" per hour at times. This video depicts the heaviest snowfall rates, as well as the thruway gridlocked due to many accidents. The thruway was backed up for 10+ miles on the night of the 20th.
