TOP 10 things to do in DURBAN!

Wondering what to do while you're in Durban? Here are ten of my favourite activities that you can enjoy while you're in 'the warmest place to be'.

You could start on the beachfront by hiring a bicycle and riding on the promenade. Next, get the best view in Durban by riding on the Funworld cable car. If you've worked up an appetite, why not enjoy a bunny at one of the many beachfront cafe's offering them.

Just a short walk from the promenade you'll find the impressive Moses Mabhida stadium, home to several games in the 2010 world cup - give yourself an adrenaline rush by jumping off the Big Rush Swing, a Guinness World Record holder for highest swing.

Next up is a visit to Florida Road, the heart of Durban's entertainment scene, with bars, restaurants and coffee shops to choose from - I like Florida Fields with its beautiful gardens, lots of choices, and ice cream!

The botanical gardens are a Durban treasure, and free of charge. Spend an hour or two admiring the trees, some of which were planted well over a hundred years ago.

It's not a visit to Durban if you don't take a swim in the sea, so make sure to leave time for that, as well as a visit to Ushaka Marine World, where you can hit the slides, or hang out in the aquarium.

Just outside Durban is beautiful Umhlanga, which is always worth a visit, particularly to drop in to the Oyster Box Hotels Lighthouse Bar, where you can watch the waves while you sip on a perfect cocktail (keep an eye out for Skabenga, the hotel cat!)

Finally, head a little inland towards Kloof, where you'll find the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve, full of winding paths, impressive waterfalls and picnic friendly grassy lawns.

This season, Durban really does have more!
