Delete Geometry node is part of the Geometry Operations node, meaning it takes both mesh and curves as the input for the operations. In this video I show you the untapped potential of the Delete Geometry node. Normally, we can understand that Delete geometry can delete elements based on the condition we set.

It looks like a simple node but when it is connected to the right nodes, the true power is unleashed. One of the example is using the Delete geometry node to make a group of objects following another object kind of effect. For example, it can be a group of Suzanne follow a pillar or tree like structure. With the setup I have, you can effortlessly replace the pillar for a tree.

To achieve this effect, we need three set of objects. A plane, a pilar and the Suzanne. Spread the pillar in the plane using distribute on points node as point source and pillar as instance on the instance on points node. Same setup for the Suzanne to distribute on the plane.

Now, to achieve the group follow effect, the specialists are involved. Geometry Proximity node and Delete Geometry node, boom, you get the group follow effect. How the Geometry proximity node connected to the Delete Geometry node is the key. Please watch the full explanation in the video.
