SHE SHOOK IT began over a decade ago, back when Steve Lane and producer Jay were just getting started. Jay dropped a Joe Perry–style groove—funky, sassy, and impossible to ignore. The first lyrics and vocals didn’t quite land, but the groove haunted them. After a few failed attempts, they shelved the song… temporarily.
The hook kept creeping back. Eventually, Steve delivered a raw, hard-hitting vocal that finally brought it to life. Jay’s production and mix work took it even further—turning early imperfections into something that stands up against anything on the radio. The final version? Pure barroom swagger with a classic rock soul.
While the lyrics hint at a wild night, there’s no “boom boom / chickie wow wow.” Just a guy and a girl dancing ‘til sunrise. Ironically, the couple featured in this music video actually are married. Sometimes, what starts as a song ends up as a prophecy.
