Three weeks after dramatically evading arrest, the notorious drug supplier to bandits terrorising parts of Niger State, 33-year-old Mohammed Sani, popularly known as “Gamboli,” has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Gamboli was tracked down and arrested on Thursday, 11 December 2025, at one of his drug joints in Anguwan Fadama, Kuta, Shiroro Local Government Area, following sustained intelligence-led manhunt by NDLEA operatives. The suspect had earlier escaped during a raid on his residence at Anguwan Makera, Kuta, on 20 November 2025, where officers recovered 471.8 kilograms of skunk (cannabis). Intelligence reports revealed that Gamboli was a major supplier of illicit drugs to armed bandits operating in the Shiroro axis.

Codeine Factory Uncovered in Abia
In a major breakthrough, NDLEA operatives in Abia State on Thursday, 11 December, uncovered a clandestine codeine syrup manufacturing factory at Amapu Igbengwo village, Umuakpara, Osisioma LGA. The raid led to the recovery of 9,015 bottles of codeine syrup, weighing 1,152.2kg.

Multiple Arrests, Massive Drug Seizures Across States
The agency recorded a string of successful operations nationwide:
Enugu State:
Ossai Emeka (45) arrested with 7.2kg of skunk along Onitsha–Enugu Ezike Road.
Enoje Agada (40) nabbed with 94.6kg of skunk along Enugu-Ezike–Ette Road.
Oyo State:
A raid on a notorious drug joint, “Beere the California,” in Ido led to the seizure of 3.4kg skunk, 1.6kg Colorado (synthetic cannabis) and 400g of methamphetamine. The joint’s owner, “Idowu the Killer,” is currently on the run, while Ajibade Faruk was arrested.
Another operation at Idi Oro, Elekuro, Ibadan, resulted in the arrest of Olusanya Abosede (35) with 238.4kg of skunk.
Lagos (Seme Border):
Bashiru Babalola (43) and Ugunwale Ranti (50) were arrested at Gbaji checkpoint, Badagry, with 50,000 pills of tramadol (250mg).
Ogun State:
Akinwale Makanjuola and Joseph Owolabi were arrested with 73kg of skunk at Iperu, while Wasiu Lateef was nabbed with 25kg of skunk at Oke Agbede, Imeko.
Ondo State:
NDLEA operatives arrested 55-year-old Veronica Obi and her 29-year-old son, Bright Obi, at Ogbese, Akure North, recovering a staggering 1,187kg of skunk and seeds.
Edo State:
Ohiomah Igbafe (44) was arrested at Uroe community, Owan East LGA, with 461kg of skunk and seeds.
Gombe State:
Muhammed Sani (alias Sha-Mu-Sha), 50, was arrested with 40,000 capsules of tramadol at Tunfure.
Two others, Muhammad Abdullahi (Sakalala), 52, and Muhammed Hamza (Mamman), 32, were arrested at Ashaka Jalingo with 56kg of skunk.

Drugs Bound for US, Canada, Sweden Intercepted
NDLEA operatives intercepted 907 pills of tramadol, tapentadol, cocodamol, amitriptyline and bromazepam, cleverly concealed in local black soap containers and designer wears, across six consignments bound for the United States, Canada and Sweden at courier companies in Lagos between 9 and 10 December 2025.

In another landmark operation, NDLEA officers at the Apapa seaport, Lagos, on Saturday, 13 December, intercepted a container laden with 170,000 bottles of codeine syrup, weighing 23,579kg, during a joint examination with the Nigeria Customs Service and other security agencies.

WADA Campaign Sustained Nationwide
Beyond enforcement, NDLEA sustained its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, delivering sensitisation lectures in schools across Katsina, Kano, Benue, and engaging traditional institutions, including an advocacy visit to HRM Igwe Ikechukwu Samuel Asadu, Chairman, Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers.
