Resplendent Quetzal (Pharomachrus moccino)

This is a family of Resplendent Quetzal in the cloud forest in the north of Chiapas, Mexico. Being one of the most beautiful birds on earth, sadly it is considered in Mexico as an endangered specie. This video is intended to create awarenes on the importance of taking all steps and actions to protect it. It is believed to be undergoing a "moderately rapid population decline" due to deforestation. Suggested conservation actions include monitoring habitat loss and degradation, as well as protecting habitat corridors and the high and low elevation forests it inhabits. The primary threats to the Resplendent Quetzal are habitat conversion for agriculture and livestock production, logging of mature forest, and climate change.
