Hiking Ireland: Mount Brandon from Faha. Ireland's Best Path??

Описание к видео Hiking Ireland: Mount Brandon from Faha. Ireland's Best Path??

They say that Brandon has the last sunset in Europe because it's such a high mountain, so close to the western seabord. I like that.
I've wanted to walk on Mount Brandon since the first time I saw it, shortly after arriving in Ireland five years ago. Today, I finally made it and it was everything I'd hoped.

The views on the first section are good, but then you enter the cwm and it's even better. I need to go back now on a clear day and get the full experience.

I found conflicting information about the aircraft remains and at the time I made the video believed it was the Sunderland. I've since read more about it and it would appear to be part of the Luftwaffe Focke Wulf 200 that crashed in August 1940. All six crew members survived the crash and became the first Germans to be held in Ireland during the war. One, Lt. Kurt K.W. Kyck returned after the war and settled in the area, living to 90 years old. He died exactly 70 years after the crash.

As I drove to the trail today, I listened to Ellie from ‪@ToughSoles‬ on the ‪@HiiKER_global‬ podcast talking about her incredible axchievement (https://toughsoles.ie/blog/2023/ellie...) and she mentioned summit dancing, so, for the first (and possibly last time) ever, I did the same. #summitdance #mountbrandon #countykerry
