Bass clarinet player Joris Roelofs was educated as a jazz musician in New York, among other places, and became fascinatied with both big bands and classical orchestras. Now he forms a duo with bassoon player Bram van Sambeek, an equally open-minded musician whose repertory encompasses
Vivaldi as well as Metallica. Their instruments, bass clarinet and bassoon, form a perfect match, and the two have collaborated before on Roelofs’s compositions Nietzsche Serenade and Truth and Lies, which are both based on Nietzsche’s philosophy.
