KTM TPI Slow Crank Starter Issue - FINDING PROBLEM & FIX

Описание к видео KTM TPI Slow Crank Starter Issue - FINDING PROBLEM & FIX

I had a problem that the electric starter was slowly losing power and getting harder to start the engine. I have to mention that I washed the bike very well before working on it with clean water, I didn't use chemicals so it still looks a bit dirty. I thought at first that the problem was in the battery but it was not. After a bit of testing, I came to the results that the problem was only in the electric starter. The problem happened because the oil seal on the balance shaft failed and oil leaked from the transmission directly onto it. Which caused the brushes to stick, and starter stop working.

KTM recommends that the engine be removed from the motorcycle when this work is being done. Of course, you can do it on a chassis, but you also need to remove almost everything. To get some space to lift the engine up to free up space for the starter to come out between the engine and the chassis. The same procedure is on KTM TPI, HUSQVARNA TE300I, TE250I, GAS GAS EC300 TPI.

If you ask me if it is difficult to replace the electric starter on the KTM TPI ? My answer would be yes, because you need to take the complete engine out of the chassis, and it takes a lot of time to do that. This is the biggest problem of all, replacing electric starter on the ktm tpi is not difficult and is done very quickly. But everything else is slow job and takes a couple of hours to finish.
