The Indiana Fever beat the Dallas Wings 94–86 on Friday night, with 32 points from Kelsey Mitchell. Caitlin Clark was out because of an illness, though. The Fever took control right away, leading by 22 points in the first quarter.

Clark hurt her left hip, which ruined the planned game between two No. 1 WNBA draft picks in a row. The Wings played their first game at the NBA Dallas Mavericks' arena, and this year's top pick, Paige Bueckers, was on the team.

Even though he had trouble hitting at first, Bueckers scored 27 points, including a key long-range shot before halftime. After falling behind by 23, the Wings took a short lead in the fourth quarter, but their poor shooting in the first quarter (26%) cost them the game. The other 15 points came from Arike Ogunbowale for Dallas.

Aliyah Boston scored 21 points for the Fever, and Natasha Howard had 15 points, 13 boards, and three steals. The team played very well, making all 11 of their shots from inside the three-point line in the first quarter and hitting 59% overall.

Even though Clark was not there for the second time in a row, the American Airlines Center was almost full. Kyrie Irving of the Mavericks, Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys, and Dallas Mavericks' recent No. 1 draft pick Cooper Flagg were some of the famous people who attended.
