Labour has three stages and the
First has two phases!

Latent and active are when,
True contractions start gradually then,
Contractions get more regular
And have increasing force!

The cervix starts effacing now,
Which means that it starts getting thinner wow!
When it dilates to 6 cm,
We’re in active phase!

The cervix effaces fully!
Dilates to 10 cm, see!
Contractions are more regular and,
You’re fully dilated!

It’s the second stage now push!
Lower back pressure gives the urge to push!
Push on each contraction and hope
The baby comes head first!

The fetus makes several,
Position changes in the birth canal!
Cardinal movements are their name,
First engagement, descent!

Flexion, internal rotation,
Extension, then restitution,
And expulsion! The baby is out!
It’s time for the third stage!

Now placenta ejection
From milder, less frequent contractions!
One final push delivers the
Placenta! Now you’re done!
