photos and videos I found in my Google photos from 2018 & 2019, thought I would show more of what I have been up to

so one of the reasons I chose the name River Thyme for my channel was because I lived just a few blocks away from the Chippewa River. Plus I like gardening and plants. Oh and word play.

I have done a good amount of kayaking over the years. When I was 14 I went on a kayaking trip of the Apostle Islands (Lake Superior) through the YMCA (Camp Manitou) which lasted 4 days and it was an experience that got me hooked on yaking. Unfortunately I wasn't able to kayak again until I was 21 and I bought my first kayak, a Riot sea kayak. I also was given a shorter one by fellow kayaking buddy. My dad always brought me camping as a kid and as a young child I always loved being outside.

As I grew up I kind of lost sight of what I wanted in life. I worked 70 hour weeks some times, over worked myself to obtain stuff like a vehicle I paid wayyy too much for and put me in debt for a while. Basically I tried the whole "keeping up with the Joneses" mentality. I was not happy. I didn't like that I worked so hard to feel like I had nothing much to show for it. Not only that but I felt like a failure for not accomplishing the things in life that society says we have to do to be considered worth something. I felt like a disappointment.

I tried getting into hiking and camping more before but I would let others get in the way, basically wait for others (like my at the time boyfriend) to give me the "okay" to do what I wanted, which was not healthy. I eventually realized "Hey, I can just do things myself if I have to, it is my life. I can go at my pace." As much as I love including friends or s/o in my shenanigans I have come to accept that not everyone wants to go camp when it is snowing or raining. Things like that.

I still try to include people when they feel up to it and have the time. I have become more independent in the sense of, I can just go have fun by myself or with one of my pets if I can bring them. I have come to be more comfortable with myself by myself and that is something I have learned to appreciate. Connecting with myself more. Trying to find out what I like. Trying to do more and see more. I have come to still want but also see the value in experience over material.

I have many interests, the main involving plants and wildlife. I got a 2 year degree in Landscape, Plant, and Turf Management that I would like to use to learn not only about native plants but also about Horticulture. I am hoping in future videos I can branch more into the "Thyme" part of my channels name.

Anyway, I know I am a total amateur at video editing, and even then that is probably giving me too much credit 😂. I want to learn more about making better videos.
