This is a thorough instructional video on how to change the oil in your Panigale (models 899-1299).

Key point. Once you have refilled the bike with fresh oil, start the engine for about a minute to ensure that the new oil gets distributed into the oil pump and filter. Then, turn the engine off and re-check the oil level again, because the oil level will drop due to pump/oil filter filling. Add additional oil as needed.

Also, while checking the oil, make sure the bike is completely upright and not resting on it's kickstand.
