VOLKS IMS 1/100 LED MIRAGE V3 PART 3 単騎仕様 Ver. The Five Star Stories INJECTION PLASTIC KIT

First part on the IMS VOLKS LED MIRAGE 17100 scale injection plastic kit. This kit took me busy for couple of months last winter, sorry if I did not have time to edit this video earlier. This first part was all about the building process and the modifications: arm extensions, magnets, scribing, modification of the ankle joints, etc...Second part was about the painting processor the frame. I hope you'll enjoy the final build!

Considerations:
VOLKS IMS KITS usually makes you sweat but 1:100 LED MIRAGE probably represents one of the most challenging plastic kit i’ve ever done.
Big challenge = Big final satisfaction? Probably YES.
All IMS kits are not easy-build but more recent productions are way more build-friendly than earlier ones.
I’ve read lots of complaining about the build of these kits because “they don’t stay together” but this happens just when you don’t understand
what you are buying or building. FSS IMS kits ARE NOT GUNPLAS! They have completely different logic inside.
To start they are not snap-fit plastic kits. Even if they are movable, THEY NEED TO BE GLUED if you like they stay together!
In fact they are more similar to traditional airplanes or tanks where you need to pay attention of what to glue or not to glue, what you need to
keep separated for painting etc... they are for experienced modelers. Usually armor plates can’t stay on place because they are
engineered to have zero-clearance just ONCE YOU HAVE PAINTED PARTS. Yes, the thickness of primer and paints will allow a more solid build.
Final assembly happens just when you have the paint job 100% done, so finally you can entirely build your model, using glue.
This specific kit is outstanding even if it’s kinda old Volks / Zoukei Mura production, since was firstly produced in “Inferno Napalm” version
and later was launched this light Led version. The kit honestly has some issues: it doesn’t come with
Veil (shield, even if there is in Inferno Napalm kit), shoulder blades and upper arms should be mirrored but they are the same piece.
The skirt is a mess and back of the lower legs are over-complicated. White parts should be translucent but also a little bit transparent but they
are not, so i went for a full-covering white camo because armor plates don’t reveal any detail beneath.
Despite these small problem, this kit is AMAZING in terms of quantity and quality of details, proportions, functionalities.
The frame itself is superb and obviously it’s a pity to cover such a coolness, but hey, it’s FSS, it always happens!
