The Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the scheme for conducting the Census of India 2027, with a total estimated cost of ₹11,718.24 crore. This census will be one of the largest administrative and statistical exercises in the world.

🔍 Key Highlights:
✔️ Census 2027 will be conducted in two phases: Houselisting & Housing Census (April–September 2026) and Population Enumeration (February 2027).

✔️ Approx 30 lakh field functionaries will be deployed for the nationwide exercise.
✔️ For the first time, data collection will be done using a mobile app (Android & iOS).
✔️ A real-time Census Management & Monitoring System (CMMS) portal will help efficient tracking and data management.
✔️ Citizens will have the option to self-enumerate digitally.
✔️ The Census will also capture caste data electronically during Population Enumeration.
