This stage I spend alot of time just racking up kills. The reason being is that you need to get 1000 KOs on this stage specifically to unlock stage 8-X. Fortunately there's alot of enemy officers at the end so if you just don't defeat the officers and don't take all the base captains your allies should hang back while you get as many KOs as you need. Of course the more you get earlier in the map the better.
