Here's a chant and map to help memorize the central Asian countries for Classical Conversations Foundations Cycle 2 Week 23 geography new grammar. Lyrics: The Central Asia countries are a special land.
The central Asia Countries all end with “stan.”
There’s a giant among all the "stans."
That giant’s name is Kazakstan.
He made a turkey melt in a cast iron pan.
The turkey melt was Turkmenistan.
It oozes north, the melted cheese.
Uzbekistan is to the northeast.
Further east, he smelled some curry
Kyrgyzstan is where he ate some curry.
Next he wanted Tangy Chicken in his mouth.
Tajikistan is the county that was south.

Mnemonics:
Kazakstan is the giant "stan." He's hungry, so he goes on a tour of central Asia for food.
The Caspian Sea and Iran are next to each other. Together, they make a "cast iron" pan. On top of that pan is Turkmenistan = Turk. m. = Turkey Melt in the cast iron pan.
The cheese from the turkey melt "oozes" north = Uzbekistan is north of Turkmenistan ("Ooze"bekistan)
Curry = Cur. = Kyrgyzstan
Tangy Chicken = Ta. chick. = Tajikistan
