Elvis Presley - How The Web Was Woven - From First Take to the Master

Описание к видео Elvis Presley - How The Web Was Woven - From First Take to the Master

Of the eight studio masters contained within Elvis’ 1970 album “That’s The Way It Is”, only one was not given serious consideration for inclusion on his live set list for his August 1970 Las Vegas engagement. From the remaining seven tracks, only “Mary In The Morning” was not sung live on stage by Elvis but did make it as far as the stage rehearsal.
Various renditions of all of the songs contained on the album were captured by the film crews of MGM during the production of the documentary of the same title as the album. These varied from rehearsals to live performances but not all made it into the final edit of the original 1970 movie. In the case of “How The Webb Was Woven”, the only rendition by Elvis during main production was an informal rehearsal at the conclusion of his 15 July 1970 session in Culver City. It took place whilst Elvis was singing a few songs as he accompanied himself on piano as he wound down after some intense filmed rehearsals. Only a small portion, the conclusion, of this rendition made the final edit of the original 1970 version of “That’s The Way It Is”.
The studio master was recorded by Elvis on 5 June 1970 at RCA’s Studio B in Nashville and the third and final take was chosen as the master. Of the seven masters recorded at that day of recordings, four would be included on “That’s The Way It Is”.
Additional backing vocals were added on 22 June with brass added at a session on 20 July 1970 and additional band overdub two days later.

As with all of these videos, to get the most out of the audio, I highly recommend you use ear /headphones and turn the volume up as much as you dare!
