God Will Restore All Your Wasted Years (DON'T LOSS HOPE) | C.s. Lewis
In today’s message, inspired by the writings of C.S. Lewis, we are going to dive into a powerful truth from the Word of God: God will restore all your wasted years. This message is for anyone who feels like time has been lost—whether through mistakes, regrets, or circumstances beyond your control. There’s a promise in the Bible that no matter what you've gone through, God can redeem and restore everything you've lost.
C.S. Lewis once said, “God’s grace is not just about forgiveness; it’s about the transformation of everything we’ve ever experienced." When we reflect on our lives, many of us can look back at seasons of pain, disappointment, or wasted opportunities. But the good news is that God has a plan for restoration.
1.) God Can Redeem Your Past
The book of Joel 2:25 says, “I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten.” This verse is a powerful reminder that God is in the business of restoration. Just as He promised to restore what was lost to the locusts in Joel’s time, He promises the same for you. No matter what has been taken from you, God is able to redeem it. Whether it’s your time, your health, your relationships, or your dreams, God can restore what you thought was lost forever.
In our human understanding, we often see time as something we cannot get back. But God operates outside of time. He is the Creator of time, and He has the power to work beyond it. What seems wasted in our eyes is not lost to God.
2.) Trusting in God's Timing
Restoration does not always happen instantly. It requires patience and faith that God knows what He’s doing. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
When we surrender our past to God, trusting that He is in control, He begins the process of restoring us. Sometimes, the journey to restoration involves healing, growth, and learning lessons along the way. Trust that God will make all things beautiful in His perfect time, even when you can’t see it happening yet.
3.) The Power of Forgiveness
One of the most powerful ways God restores wasted years is through forgiveness. C.S. Lewis also wrote, “To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you.” When we hold onto bitterness, regret, or unforgiveness, we block the flow of God’s restoration in our lives. But when we forgive, not only do we experience healing, but we also make space for God to do the restorative work in our hearts.
If you feel like you’ve wasted time or made mistakes that are holding you back, know that God’s forgiveness is available. His grace is sufficient for all your past failures, and He’s ready to turn your sorrow into joy.
4.)Restoration Brings New Purpose
God’s restoration doesn’t just bring back what was lost—it also brings a new sense of purpose. Romans 8:28 reminds us, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Even the painful experiences, the “wasted” years, can be used by God to fulfill His greater purpose for your life. Your past does not define you; it is a part of the story God is still writing in your life.
You may feel like your best years are behind you, but with God, your future is always bright. He has a plan that will bring healing, fulfillment, and joy.
5.) God's Promise of Restoration
No matter how many years you feel were wasted or how far off track you think you’ve gone, God will restore all your wasted years. His promises are true, and His love for you is unshakable. You can trust Him to turn your sorrow into joy, your losses into victories, and your regrets into testimonies of His grace.
