Dominik Hruby is a musician from Munich, Germany who, despite having no physical connection to Ireland has identified as an Irishman since his mother took him to an Irish music festival in his homeland when he was 14. Having felt he never fit in at school or at home, it was upon finding Irish music and culture that Dominik finally found himself. After spending his youth playing as a drummer in a Christian worship band, it was upon hearing The Dubliners and Christy Moore for the first time that Dominik switched instruments to the guitar and set off on the path he is on now. Dominik now tours the world making his living playing Irish traditional music and rebel songs and even speaks in a Cork accent, has his body adorned in Irish tattoos and calls his band "Cluas" (what he believes the Irish word for "listen" to be) and all this despite only having spent 9 months in Ireland on a holiday. Plastic Paddy is a fascinating take on the idea that home is where the heart is and as Dominik himself says in the opening line of the film; "Ich bin in München, Deutschland geboren, aber mein Herz ist irisch!" (I'm from Munich, Germany but my heart is Irish!"
