The ridiculous acceleration power of dual TRAXX powered IC Directs!! 💨 - Departure -

In my pursuit of catching and capturing as many of the final TRAXX Sandwich ICRmh IC Directs, I managed to capture a few gems. By now it is well known they are still around, but are being phased out by the ICNG-Bs as EuroCity Direct, while the Belgians have started their operations with their "slow" EuroCity variant, with their I11 carriages and TRAXX locomotives. Something I wasn't entirely sure of on the 14th, a day before the new national timetable, so I dedicated a day to capturing the old formations...

On that day, ofcourse, I also wanted to have a few final rides on the sets. So after visiting the south recording several services, I took one up west and got off at the tunnel station of Delft. There I decided to take a side by side shot of the service departing, and boy did it fire off!

Two high powered Baureihe 186 TRAXXes after all are more than plenty for the 7 intercity carriages, and when the driver really gives the berries, this is clearly seen! Mind you, these carriages are the full standard length of 26.4 meters, giving you some perspective on how fast these trains actually really are. It's quite the shame these units are limited to just 160 km/h or 100 m/h, because that clearly isn't where their potential stops. Ah well, at least we are left with this magnificent display of acceleration power...!
