Stage Analysis is a concept popularized by Stan Weinstein and uses a weekly chart to identify the longer term and driving trends in the market.

When a significant bear market occurs, the majority of the damage is done after the market is already in a stage 4 downtrend. Similarly, the majority of gains occur during a weekly stage 2 uptrend.
