Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju on July 02 condemned the Opposition’s reaction during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech. He alleged that Congress didn’t let their Manipur MP speak and said that Congress should apologise to the people of Manipur for politicising such a sensitive matter.
Speaking to the media, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said, “…The opposition’s reaction during the Prime Minister’s speech is condemnable... Congress was allotted 3 hours 48 minutes to speak... When they should have given their MP a chance to speak, they did not let him speak, and when PM Narendra Modi got up to speak, they created chaos and alleged that their Manipur MP was not allowed to speak... Congress should apologise to the people of Manipur for politicising such a sensitive matter... Congress’ intent is not right. Congress party doesn’t obey rules and only creates a ruckus in the house…I feel sorry for the new MPs. How will they learn? When the Prime Minister is speaking, the MPs are not being given a chance to hear what he is saying. This is not the tradition of our Indian Parliamentary democracy...”
