People Services Center (PSC), a company specializing in delivering business intelligence systems, introduced C3D Business Intelligence Suite software as a solution to business needs and wants. The C3D BI suite helps organizations manage and easily access critical information needed for smooth day-to-day operation. C3D consists of two main components: 1) a web based portal, and 2) a back-end business intelligence engine.

C3D Business Intelligence Engine
The first piece of the C3D BI back-end engine is a server-based platform, which is where we manage business intelligence content and deliver it securely to the appropriate people within an organization.

The next piece of the engine is what we call enterprise reporting. This function serves up the canned reports HR or IT might want to make available to the masses. Examples of canned reports would be income statements, financials, HR reports, or a customer service report. These reports are created once, typically by a developer, and made available for people to use repeatedly.

The third layer is self-service business intelligence. We can turn a complex table database into an easy-to-use business view structure geared around a functional area of the enterprise. For example, we might create business views to support people in different departments, such as HR, Finance and Sales departments, who want to serve themselves information.

After users have served themselves the data, they might want to analyze it. An IT person cannot predict the type of analysis they might want to do, so the C3D BI Suite allows users to go from self-service to analysis seamlessly.

Finally, the C3D BI Suite allows companies to deliver dashboards with easy access to summarized key performance indicators for their customers. The dashboards also provide the ability to drill down to analysis and business view structure.

For canned reporting, C3D uses Crystal Reports and Sequel Server Reporting Services. Web Intelligence is tapped for ad hoc analysis, and Excelsius is used for dash boarding.

C3D Web-Based Portal
A portal-based framework and architecture resides on top of the platform, allowing customers to seamlessly integrate business intelligence into common business processes and workflows. This might involve invoices, statements or even customer self-service reporting. Sales might use it for customer relationship management. Some might use it to see financials through their own financial applications. C3D is an open applications architecture that can make use of different functional applications and systems.

C3D software uses application integration, single sign-on and standards-based architecture to enable integration. Embedded business intelligence, or "Embedded B.I.," exposes information into different frames. This is called iframe integration, which allows users to navigate to and use various functions, such as dashboards, report objects, My Favorites folders, or folder structures where they can access reports. A Report Launcher opens reports from within the customer's local system or application.

C3D can integrate iframe technologies into any version of SharePoint in Web parts. The software creates a Web part wrapper around SharePoint and exposes business intelligence information within SharePoint applications.

C3D includes a PSC mobile application that allows customers to view their information on a mobile browser.
