This is one of the classic real time strategy games which defined the genre and remains a cult classic with many who don't even know the games familiar at least with the iconic villain of the series Kane.
Command and Conquer, the Tiberian series, is set in an alternate past and future in which an alien substance called Tiberium is infected the globe. Its very useful, in fact indispensable, for global commerce because it draws out and crystalizes precious metals, but long term exposure is deadly to humans. This does not deter the terrorist army/cult called The Brotherhood of Nod who believe Tiberium somehow will allow mankind to transcend their natures, and spread the Tiberium through military action. To counterbalance their efforts is the Global Defense Initiative which strives to beat back Nod's ever growing fanatical following as well as locate and eliminate the enigmatic Kane who claims, amoung other things, to be an immortal who has lived on Earth for thousands of years.
