Mactan Newtown | Night Walking Tour in Cebu

Mactan Newtown is a township development project by Megaworld in Cebu. It is considered as the country's first beach-front inspired township. It has the balance of modern commercial places near a scenic beach setting. Imagine walking from BGC office area to Mactan beach in just a few minutes.

The streets are well-lighted and has proper signs for both pedestrians and motorists. It is also quite refreshing to walk here because there are many plants and trees along the street. You will also some interesting items here, such as charging ports in public benches and quirky road signs.


We started our walk from Belmont Hotel Mactan (which is right beside Savoy Hotel) and headed towards M.L. Quezon National Highway, then returned back to the hotel. Newtown has many commercial and residential buildings along Newtown Boulevard. Some residential buildings are still under construction. There are many BPO companies here, that's why you will surely see employees walking around even at night. There's even an international school for Pre-School to Grade 12. In case you need to buy anything during your stay, you can go to the nearby Robinsons Easymart, Watsons and 7/11 stores.

There are many dining options in Mactan Newtown. Mactan Alfresco is located near the main road and has several food stalls. Go to Ayer's if you crave for Lechon. This place has several seating options, from alfresco setup to covered area. If you are lucky, you can watch the live lechon roasting in their open pits nearby. Walk around and you will see other restaurants, such as McDonald's, Chicken & Beer, Choobi Choobi and many more.

Mactan Newtown sets the bar for places to stay in Mactan. This township offers a lot to both tourists and residents. We will definitely go back on our next visit to Cebu.
