JMT 1932 TD2 test run - J 6332

Описание к видео JMT 1932 TD2 test run - J 6332

A cold day and the first run for a while for petrol engined ex Jersey Leyland Titan TD2 JMT 25 (J 6332, now UK 6332 J) now the oldest double decker in the Ensignbus Vintage Fleet.
Not an easy vehicle to drive, with (when cold) the choke to control, as well as the advance and retard levers off the steering column.
A test run for the bus and also a chance to refresh gear-changing technique for the brave driver!
All was well, with a few pops and bangs from the exhaust, until a hundred yards from the home base - she suffered a minor fuel starvation problem, which just showed the value of having a test run ahead of the big day of the Ensignbus Running Day.
She fizzled out very quietly, would then start, but not pull away, so the recording ends when I went around the back with Engineer Lee and a friend, to help move her safely along, so the occasional traffic on the industrial estate could pass by.
Three of us on board provided extra manpower to give the old girl a helping hand with a push and then, once in a safe position where industrial estate traffic could pass by, engineers Lee and Colin checked a few things, then in just a few minutes, after a little more help 'in the gate', she was checked over and the problem sorted.
10 minutes later we went for a few longer runs around Purfleet and she ran just fine.
Most grateful thanks to Ross Newman for very kindly taking this vehicle round so I was able to film its classic charms.
