S/V Driftwood

Cabo Rico Yachts is a small semi-custom manufacturer of fiberglass sailboats located in Costa Rica .
The Cabo Rico 38 Cutter, 1991 full keel sailboat wasn't designed or built to win races, or even for casual day sailing, she was meant for Bluewater cruising.
It has won a reputation for legendary soft motion and stout offshore performance and reliability.
We’ve been searching for Scandinavian sailboats like Hallberg-Rassy, Najad or Contest for about a year in the US and then in Europe.
We found our  Cabo Rico by recommendation of our broker in Turkey, Marmaris Yacht Marina, and for the last 4 months we’ve made some changes on it.
We have had a really good experience working with the marina. They give us very friendly and helpful service.

Belowdeck

Boats vary considerably in how they are laid out belowdeck. Our boat has a  layout similar to those found in many cruising boats of this size.
The Cabo Rico 38 interior is stunning. The joinerwork is captivating. While the most recent 38s have actually cut back on teak, most boats on the used market will be bathed in honey-colored teak.

Our kitchen is called the “ galley” and is to port. Braced inside its U-shaped counters, the cook can reach everything-lockers,fridge, bins, sink, stove and Fire extinguisher.

Opposite the galley is the chart table or Nav station (2x VHF Radios, Battery monitor, B&G gauge for monitoring position)
400 Amp hour Lithium Battery Banks which is located under the cockpit in the storage area.

And aft of the Nav station suppose to be the quarter berth or a bedroom, but we use that area as storage and it's accessible from the cockpit.
Under the companionway we have the Engine:  New Yanmar 4JH57 diesel engine.

Here is the panel light controlled by battery DC or AC Main shore.

Ventilation is supplied through several overhead hatches and opening portlights.
In the “saloon” an L-shaped satee surrounding the dining table with a bar on the starboard side. A folding leaf  on the table opens to reach the seat on the port side when needed. Both satees are long enough to be used as sleeping berths.
Lockers and other storage areas are fitted outboard of and under the satees.

Forward of the bulkhead, the head- with manual toilette, sink and separated shower- is on the starboard side.
The V-berth or bedroom fills the forward stateroom. Under the bed we have the 378 liter Water tank.
Also we can access to the chain locker.
Here is our hanging locker and other storage areas plus 3 drawers  which we mainly use for our clothing.
