According to a new source, Prince Harry made an emotional attempt to soften the heart of his father, King Charles, by writing a poignant letter asking for forgiveness.
The "desperate" Duke of Sussex wrote the letter because he had no other means to contact his cancer-stricken father.
The letter arrived on the morning of the 80th VJ Day event earlier this month, and it apparently made him sad.
According to palace sources, the emotional message took the King off guard, which may explain why he was observed wiping away tears during a speech by a 105-year-old World War II veteran.
An informant told New Idea Magazine that Harry asked King Charles' forgiveness in the heartfelt message.
"Harry is not had a direct line to his father since he saw him briefly after his diagnosis," according to an insider.
"He had no choice but to mail a handwritten letter. He is trying to set things right before it's too late and really regrets the pain he has caused," they said.
"Harry poured his heart out in that letter and he's praying it will get through."
