HIV remains a critical yet often under-discussed aspect of maternal health in Sierra Leone and across sub-Saharan Africa.For many women, stigma and limited access to care create barriers that affect both their wellbeing and their children's survival.

This teaching-module film, "Every Visit Matters: HIV Care and Maternal Health in Sierra Leone " (2025), documents healthcare workers, educators, and community advocates sharing firsthand perspectives on integrating HIV education and testing into maternal healthcare. Featuring insights from medical professionals in Sierra Leone, professors at Lehigh University, and the Dean of Nursing at the University of Makeni, the film highlights the need to break longstanding stigmas.

This film is part of an ongoing series developed by the Mothers of Sierra Leone team to support health students, practitioners, and community leaders. We invite you to screen and share this work to help advance maternal health equity.
