Fly free, darling girl. You were loved the minute that chicken breeder plucked you randomly from a wooden box where you were squished with dozens of your brothers and sisters. We took you home and you ruled our big garden together with your sister Jenny. You made friends with Kiki the rabbit (+) and Poes the cat.

You were not fully an angel. You bullied your adopted sister, Henny, until she passed away.

Still, I loved you. I loved how you would squat for me and let me pet you and then every single time, fluff your feathers. I loved your grumpiness; if I were a second too slow in giving your food, you would peck my hand or leg. I loved how you kept giving us a brown egg day after day after day, even after Jenny has stopped doing so. I loved your grumpy face looking through our glass door.

I will miss you, Penny. Your 4 years with us was too short. Fly free, darling girl.
