An important chapter of Indian history that has been removed from our books is the massacre of Chittpawan Brahmins in 1948 after Gandhiji's murder. Within few hours of Gandhiji's death, the biodata of Nathuram Godse, who was a Chittpawan Brahmin was sent to parts of current day Maharashtra and Northern Karnataka, which has significant population of Chittpawan Brahmins.

This led to a planned genocide of Chittpawan brahmins by the Gandhiwadis and congress workers, there house were looted and burned at large scale in various districts. Dr Narayan Savarkar who was also a Chittpawan Brahmin was mob lynched and was the first mob lynching of independent India.
