Four Pebbles

The children in Plum Village  practice pebble meditation

Each of them has four pebbles and each pebble represents something. From the left, to the right hand- you pass the pebble.

Breathing in and out.  3 times. 

Calm yourself, breathing in “ I see myself as a Flower”.

Breathing out “I feel Fresh”

“Do you feel your Flowerness” Surround you?

You’re a flower in the Garden of Humanity….. Is it really me?

Yes. Of course.

Now you pick up the second one. And Look upon. Smile.

It represents A Mountain. A mountain.

Breathing in “ I see myself as a Mountain.”

Breathing out “I feel solid.”

There’s a mountain inside of us. We can be stable, without a fuss.

No more fear, or jealousy. Can you sit like a Mountain?

We can cultivate that solidity. Is it really me? Yes!

Now pick up the third, it is water, still water….

Breathing in “ I see myself as still water” Breathing out “ I reflect things as they truly are”. It is calming, you’ll see.

Things can often feel distorted, your goals thwarted. Is it me? Yes.

Breathing in “I see myself as Water” Breathing out “I reflect”

When your mind is calm, you can see the truth. You needn’t suffer. Just find the offer within this task. Cultivate still water.

And then,  you pick up the last. It is space. So much space. Breathing in “I see myself as space”.

Breathing out, “I feel free"!

If your mind is preoccupied with so many things, and projects, you’ll have endless worries, cravings and anger - you hardly have any space left.  If you don’t practice space, you are not free. Is it really me? Yes!
