I spent one unforgettable week (02.08.–10.08.2025) living in a medieval camp during the Battle of Wisby reenactment! 🏰⚔️

The event recreates one of the most dramatic moments in Scandinavian medieval history – the battles of 1361.
According to legend, when the Danish forces arrived, the burghers of Visby kept the city gates closed, refusing to let the peasants in. Whether this is true or not remains a mystery. What we do know: the Gotlanders were forced to face the Danes outside the city walls.

💀 Archaeology tells us more:
– 1,185 skeletons from the battle have been uncovered in mass graves near Visby.
– The Franciscans of Visby recorded that 1,800 Gotlanders fell in the fighting.
– A stone cross still stands today, commemorating those who died.

In this vlog, I share my personal experience from inside the medieval camp: daily life,medieval visby city, battles, and the incredible atmosphere of stepping back into the 14th century.

The next great reenactment will take place on Saturday, 12th August 2028 – but until then, come with me on this journey into the past!
