Hi I'm Matt, I have had a rattle/knock on my Renault Mégane 1.6l 16valve VVT from its dephaser pulley. It only happens when the car is started if it has been left over night. It only makes a noise for a few seconds until the dephaser pulley has oil pressure.
I replaced the pulley with as little strip down of the timing covers as possible.
The timing belt was correctly timmed with locking pins.
