After her first single release in April of 2024, local Brisbane-based artist Georgia Scarlett welcomes her second single ‘Can’t Stop Time’ on the 22nd of June. This song forms part of the leadup to her debut album release ‘Rhythm of Life’. The album revolves around the theme of time - the changes which occur externally in the world, and the changes which occur internally, within ourselves. Her recording journey for her debut album began in November of 2023 at Forbes Street Studios, Sydney. In order to create an emotional and pure performance which reflects the sorrowful storytelling in the lyrics, the song was recorded in one take, just Georgia and her guitar. “I want people to feel something, I want them to be able to connect, and to listen without the distraction of a full band”, Georgia said. Georgia often describes this song as the “sad-girl” song of the album, the song that you can cry to after a breakup. To maintain this heartfelt and emotive performance in the music video, a live performance style was chosen. Georgia is continuing to string her prominent theme of time through her music and visual storytelling. The video was created with the hard work and efforts of a large team of students from the Queensland University of Technology.
