Homeless Families Conference | Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester

Andy Burnham has served as Mayor of Greater Manchester since May 2017.

The Mayor joined Greater Manchester’s Combined Authority as its chair and eleventh member. He is also the lead for Policy & Reform and Transport. Prior to being Mayor, Andy was MP for Leigh from 2001. In Government, Andy has held Ministerial positions at the Home Office, Department of Health and the Treasury. In opposition, Andy has served as Shadow Education Secretary, Shadow Health Secretary and Shadow Home Secretary.

The Mayor spoke about the work taking place in the city-region to tackle the housing crisis and reduce the use of temporary accommodation, including for families.
