"Face the People" is a multi-media presentation of twenty community health workers from Salt River to Strand, Mitchells Plain to Khayelitsha in Cape Town. In this video you will face the people for whom the word 'care' is an activity rather than just a feeling. Each of the people featured in this project has been nominated by their local Health Committees because of the extraordinary work that they and their projects are doing in their communities. Each nominee gave time and energy to sit for their portraits to be painted from life by portraitist and activist Gabrielle Le Roux, and to be interviewed. They were also photographed doing what they do every day by artist and photographer Kali van der Merwe. The project was supported by Metro District Health Services and the Department of Health.
