Ali Alexander Rahbari became Karajan's assistant at the Salzburg Easter Festival in 1980. In this position he got to know Karajan very well.

Rahbari is an Iranian composer and conductor, who has worked with more than 120 European orchestras. Herbert von Karajan also invited him to conduct the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 1979.
