Barred Owl Calls

Описание к видео Barred Owl Calls

A part of Barred Owls can be heard calling in this recording from West Virginia, by Andrew Spencer (accessible at www.xeno-canto.org/48644). They are forest birds that are used as indicator species to manage old forests.

Originally an eastern species, fire suppression is one of the factors that allowed this bird to spread westward during the past century. They now can be found in northern California, where they compete and hybridize with the smaller (and endangered) Spotted Owl.
